I am a professional composer who very much likes to collaborate with artists in various media including film, video, games, dance, theater, and installations.

I compose music for concert performance, dance, theater, spoken-word, television, and film scores. The diverse styles of music I create ranges from the experimental sounds of a quartet of electronically-processed guitars to chamber music featuring traditional instruments and voices. I was educated both as a practicing musician and a music scholar at Brown University, The New England Conservatory of Music, The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Stanford University. A former faculty member of The New England Conservatory, I received the doctorate in historical musicology from Stanford University in 1993.
My music has been commissioned and performed by many established professional ensembles and soloists. Compositions for musicians from the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb won grant support from the Soros Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. I have also won grants from ASCAP, Seattle's Artist Trust, ArtsLink, and the Jack Straw Foundation. I have written numerous soundtracks for films and television.

I am also a professional guitarist, mandolinist and lutenist and have performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony and Opera Orchestras, Boston Musica Viva, the Seattle Symphony, Musica Nel Chiostro in Florence, and the City of London Festival. I am a co-founder of the Boston Renaissance Ensemble which performed concert tours in the US and Europe. In 1985, this Ensemble received the Noah Greenberg Award for "excellence in the performance of Early Music" from the American Musicological Society.

MOST RECENT PROJECT: "Zagreb Everywhere" a multi-media video with spoken texts by Gordana Crnkovic (Croatia), video by Victor Ingrassia (US) and my own soundscape/compositions. Received grant from Jack Straw Productions (Seattle, 2000). Premiere performance May 2001, University of Washington, Seattle. Subject of my forthcoming article (July '02) in "Organised Sound" (Cambridge University Press) called "Creating the soundscape for Zagreb Everywhere."

FOUNDED: MiroJoy Group--a consortium of writer Gordana Crnkovic, video artist Victor Ingrassia and composer/sound artist David Hahn. Their project "Zagreb Everywhere" is available on video: please visit http://homepage.mac.com/victoringrassia and click on "Zagreb". Presently working on an animated musical comedy.
